Whether you are decorating a nursery or a dramatic room for a teen girl, Lots and lots of ribbon can help you achieve the desired look.

For a nursery, using pastel nylon satin ribbon to make an umbrella style shade cover is so cute.  Use enough ribbon all cut at the same length and cut some ends in a V.  Gather the ribbon ends like a pony tail and tie off with a cute baby pink bow then just drape over the top of the shade.  This can easily be removed for dusting or just a change as the child grows.

Adding deep dramatic colors of sheer ribbon cut randomly gives a fairy tale or gypsy whimsical appearance to another wise dull shade on a wall lamp.  The warm colors add romance while the wispy ends create a fun flirty feel.
